📖 The Quick Answer
Lexus Safety System Plus 3.0 bundles a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection (which is AEB plus FCW), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with curve speed, Lane Tracing Assist (lane centering), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Road Sign Assist, Intelligent High Beam, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with autobrake, and Safe Exit Assist. RX, LX, and LS add Traffic Jam Assist and Front Cross Traffic Alert.
⚙ How It Works (Sensors and Algorithm)
Hardware is a forward camera behind the windshield and a forward millimeter-wave radar in the grille. Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic use two rear corner radars. The ADAS ECU fuses inputs and controls throttle, brake, and electric power steering. LSS+ 3.0 uses a higher-resolution camera and longer-range radar than LSS+ 2.5.
🛡 What It Protects Against
Rear-end collisions (the IIHS-tested PCS with pedestrian detection has one of the strongest avoidance records in the segment), lane departures, blind-spot lane changes, and reverse cross-traffic. IIHS rates RX, NX, ES, IS, and LS with LSS+ 3.0 as Top Safety Picks Plus.
⚠ Limitations and When It Fails
LSS+ 3.0 disengages Lane Tracing Assist below 30 mph except on RX, LX, and LS which have Traffic Jam Assist down to 0 mph. Like all camera-based systems, it depends on clear lane paint and a clean windshield. After a windshield replacement, both static and dynamic calibration are required (Lexus TSB L-SB-0085-21).
🚗 Which Vehicles Have It
Every 2017+ Lexus has LSS+ standard. LSS+ 3.0 is on 2022+ NX, 2023+ RX, 2024+ TX, 2024+ GX, 2024+ LX, 2023+ LS, and 2023+ RZ. Older models (2017 to 2021) use LSS+ 2.0 or 2.5, which is functionally similar but with a lower-resolution camera.

Recall 23V-456 covers the front camera bracket on certain 2018 to 2020 ES and RX, which can shift and cause false LDW. TSB L-SB-0085-21 covers PCS and LDA recalibration after a windshield replacement.
