- Confirm the MIL works at all - With key ON, engine OFF, the check engine light should illuminate steady. No light at all confirms P0650.
- Pull the cluster and check the MIL bulb - Some clusters use a discrete bulb that can simply be replaced.
- Check the cluster connector - Look for bent pins or moisture damage. Reseat the connector.
- Test continuity to PCM - With the cluster unplugged, ohm out the MIL control wire from cluster pin to PCM pin.
