❓ FAQ

How accurate is this estimator?
It uses typical 2026 US independent-shop price ranges and standard labor times, then adjusts for vehicle type and local cost of living. It is a planning range, not a quote. Your actual price depends on the exact engine, parts brand, and local labor rate. Dealers charge more than independents.
Why is the DIY number so much lower?
The DIY figure is parts only. On many jobs, labor is more than half the bill, so doing it yourself can save hundreds. But some jobs (timing chains, transmissions, head gaskets) need special tools and experience, so weigh the risk before you start.
Does this include the dealer?
No. These ranges reflect independent shops. Dealership labor rates are typically 20 to 50 percent higher, and dealers usually install OEM parts, which cost more than quality aftermarket.
How do I know I actually need this repair?
Run a free AI diagnosis first. It ranks the likely causes for your symptom or trouble code by probability, so you do not pay to replace a part that is not the problem.
